i love colorful cakes! so when i stumbled upon a box of blue velvet cake mix, i knew i had to buy it. plus, duncan hines is the next best thing to baking from scratch. it's so easy!


the only other ingredients besides the cake mix were eggs, butter, and water.


and the color turned out amazing-- so bright and beautiful!


i opted for cupcakes to share with friends, but next time i'll be making a cake for myself.


i was expecting blue velvet, but it was more like blue vanilla cake. to finish it off, i made my favorite cream cheese frosting recipe.
