this year my uncle invited us over to celebrate chinese new year! and it was such a treat because my uncle makes the most delicious dishes. i always get so excited to eat over at his house. there's always more food than i can handle, but everything tastes so good. ♥


for dinner my uncle prepared ten main dishes,


and two different soups. the fish stomach soup was impressive and loaded with good stuff, but there was also another soup that played on the phrase gong hay fat choy. i wish i knew more chinese to understand and explain it, but it included fat choy, bean curd, shittake mushrooms, and dried oysters.


there were also several types of meat, but nothing i'm too familiar with.


there were many other types beneath the chicken. i'm pretty sure i ate beef tongue tonight, but it was in my mouth before i actually thought about it.


some of my favorites of the night included the chilean sea bass, mapo tofu, and shrimp with lime. one day i'll have to learn how to cook like this too. but for now, i'll just call it a night.
