setters of catan is definitely one of my favorite board games, although not the most exciting. it's a fairly simple game that involves building, trading, and robbing, among other things. i've played this game hundreds and hundreds of times with many other people (and even bots).

the main goal of the game is to be the first to reach ten points by rolling numbers,

and building roads, settlements, cities, and in some games, ships,

it's the only game i know where you can use sheep to build roads,

or lose before you even gain one point. it has happened before.

it's quite a long game that takes about an hour. unless you're playing with bots, which cuts the time down to ten minutes-- seven minutes if you're fast. or unless you're playing with an expansion which drags the game on for eternity.
